Our History Project - 05-16-09 - John Robert (Bob) Slaughter - D-Day & Omaha Beach

This weeks Guest is John Robert Slaughter, but most know him as Bob Slaughter.

Bob was gracious enough to come on and spend some time with us to discuss not only his book but to recount his firsthand experiences on that historic day on the Normandy Coastline.

He gives us a glimpse through his eyes on what happened and how he survived. We do have a limited time frame in doing the shows and there was a lot we discussed that I wish I could have included about life, friends, family, honour and just growing up. I have invited Bob back for another show so he can get out in detail on some of the topics we talked about.

His book: "Omaha Beach and Beyond" The Long March of Bob Slaughter is a very good read and I will be posting a review soon on Our History Project Book Review. A short Bio on Bob can be found now at Our History Project Authors Corner.

Historic Travel - Pathfinder Tours

In interviewing Bob I found out that he is going back to Normandy and you can go too. Mark Patterson of Pathfinder Tours is taking Bob and a group of people back to the Beachhead and more. Bob will be the personal guide. We had an interview with Mark as well to find out more about the trip.

Mark also has a Online Museum and Database of writings, documents and photos that cover the American Paratroopers of World War 2 and it can be found at http://www.ww2paratroopers.com/.

We are updating

In March of this year we have moved servers and are in the process of moving all of our audio over to our own. It was due to excessive rising cost and the lowering of service that prompted this move. Please bear with us as we make this transition. If there is a show you are looking for and do not see here as of yet, feel free to contact us and we can get you a direct download link.
